Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions before your visit?

We’ve gathered everything you need to know so you can arrive at Hayhu Beach Club in Costa Maya–Mahahual ready to relax. From reservations, payments and transportation to dining, activities and our eco-friendly vibe, these FAQs are here to make your planning simple and stress-free. Take a look before you travel—your perfect barefoot-luxury beach day at Hayhu starts long before your feet touch the sand

Hayhu is located between the Caribbean Sea and the jungle on a quiet, secluded stretch of beach at km 13.5 on the Mahahual–Xcalak coastal road in Costa Maya, Mexico. We’re about 20 minutes south of Mahahual town and the Costa Maya cruise port, far from the busy public beach and vendors.

Our Costa Maya Cruise day pass options include private round-trip transportation from the cruise terminal with a trusted local driver. You’ll meet your driver just outside the port, ride along the scenic road and arrive directly at Hayhu Beach Club. We’ve been welcoming cruise guests for over 7 years, so timing, logistics and getting you back to your ship safely and on time is something we know very well. Exact meeting details are always included in your confirmation.

Hayhu is not a traditional “all-you-can-eat” all-inclusive with buffets and generic drinks. We’re a small eco–beach club and restaurant in Mahahual focused on quality: made-to-order dishes, fresh local ingredients, Paraguayan–Mexican flavors and handcrafted cocktails served at your table.

Most of our experiences are credit-based day passes (for example, a set amount of USD credit toward the menu), sometimes combined with transportation and reserved areas. This lets you choose exactly what you feel like eating and drinking, while enjoying restaurant-level service in a relaxed, barefoot-luxury setting. Always check your specific booking to see what is included.

Absolutely. Hayhu Beach Club and Casa Hayhu welcome both cruise passengers and guests staying in Mahahual or the Costa Maya area. You can arrive by car or taxi using our Google Maps location and book your beach day, restaurant experience or hotel stay in advance.

Yes, children and families are absolutely welcome at Hayhu. Many guests choose us because our beach in Costa Maya–Mahahual is quieter, more natural and more relaxed than the main public areas, making it ideal for a peaceful family beach day. We offer beach toys for kids and plenty of space for them to play by the shore while adults unwind in the shade. Some spots (like certain romantic or VIP areas) are designed more for adults, but overall Hayhu is a family-friendly beach club where everyone can enjoy the Caribbean together.

Yes, we offer reliable high-speed Wi-Fi so you can stay connected, share your Costa Maya beach day or work remotely for a while.

At Casa Hayhu (hotel), pets are not allowed in the rooms.
At the beach club, we do welcome well-behaved dogs on a leash, as long as their owners take full responsibility for them. This means keeping them under control at all times, respecting other guests and local wildlife, and not allowing them on loungers or beds.

No, outside food and drinks are not allowed. Our restaurant and bar are part of the Hayhu experience, with fresh local dishes, Paraguayan–Mexican flavors and signature cocktails designed to be enjoyed by the sea. We also do not allow large speakers or loud music that interferes with our own soundtrack and the relaxed Hayhu vibe—this helps keep the atmosphere calm, natural and enjoyable for everyone.

We recommend bringing a swimsuit, light clothing, hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Because Hayhu is not an all-inclusive experience, please note that most reservations are secured with a deposit only—the remaining balance must be paid on-site on the day of your visit. It’s very important that you bring cash and/or a credit/debit card to pay the rest of your balance, plus any extras such as massages, tips or additional food and drinks beyond your included credit. Towels are included in several of our packages, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Hayhu is located on a natural, unpaved beach, and local regulations don’t allow paved walkways on the sand, so we are not fully wheelchair accessible and moving around all areas can be challenging for guests with reduced mobility.

That said, we do have some areas that are easier to access, where guests with limited mobility can still enjoy the beach club with a bit of support from their companions. If you or someone in your group has reduced mobility, please contact us in advance so we can explain the layout, set the best possible area for you and help you plan a more comfortable visit.

Yes. We have Casa Hayhu, our small eco-boutique hotel with two cozy jungle-side and sea-view rooms. It’s perfect if you want to stay longer in Mahahual, wake up just a few steps from the ocean and enjoy the Hayhu vibe from sunrise to sunset.

If you’re dreaming of more than just a Costa Maya day pass, we’d love to host you overnight—send us a message or book your stay at Casa Hayhu in advance to secure your dates.

Hayhu is a natural beach club in the Caribbean, so light rain and tropical showers are a normal part of the experience. We operate rain or shine, and many of our shaded decks and covered areas remain cozy and comfortable even when it rains—some guests actually love the sound of the rain with the ocean in the background.

If the forecast shows showers, we simply adapt: we can seat you in more protected areas, adjust the timing of your meal or suggest the best moment to swim or relax in the hammocks, so you can still enjoy your Mahahual beach day as much as possible.

On site, we accept Mexican pesos, US dollars, and major debit and credit cards. Most reservations are secured with a deposit only, so the remaining balance must be paid on-site on the day of your visit, along with any extras such as tips, additional food, drinks or services. Because Hayhu is not an all-inclusive experience, it’s very important that you arrive with a valid payment method (cash and/or card) to fully enjoy your day.

  • You will receive a full refund of your deposit in the following cases:
  • If you cancel your reservation at least 36 hours before your arrival date.

  • If your ship does not dock in Costa Maya.

  • If the beach club cannot operate due to storms or heavy rain.

If there are last-minute changes to your itinerary with less than 24 hours before arrival, you will not receive a full refund. Instead, we will issue a voucher for the same deposit amount, so you can reschedule your visit to Hayhu Beach for a future date.
